Interpret the rock, then project the well.

You start in a landed lateral. Correlate the measured GR with a synthetic vertical type log using your survey and an adjustable bed interpretation. Change the top correction and apparent dip, then evaluate the projected path relative to the target top and base.

The cross-section shows your interpretation, not the hidden geology. Matching GR reduces mismatch but does not prove a unique interpretation. The type-log track plots observations at the stratigraphic positions implied by your model.

Your requested inclination is a simplified directional-drilling plan following the geological interpretation. It is reached gradually, subject to a 2°/100 ft inclination-change limit at fixed azimuth. The game samples new GR along the path you actually drilled, including a 40 ft sensor-to-bit offset.

Scoring

Each 150 ft interval earns up to 100 points for footage inside the hidden 24 ft target. The simulated rival correlates its own logs with the same type log and projects toward the interpreted center. It has no access to the hidden beds and can miss. It is not a live person or a representation of Archer’s performance.

Scope

Synthetic logs, not a real well feed. This is a simplified 2D GR correlation game, not an operational simulator or Archer-approved training. It omits azimuth changes, full BHA response, tool averaging, resistivity inversion, survey uncertainty and real-time operations. Bed spacing and the type-log axis are vertical feet below the reference top, not true stratigraphic thickness. The section is vertically exaggerated.
